Air New Zealand June Update
Air New Zealand Expands Singapore Connectivity
Air New Zealand is adding four additional Auckland–Singapore services per week over the Northern Winter 2026 season, from the 25th of October 2026 to the 27th of March 2027. The extra services follow the recently announced Christchurch–Singapore non-stop flights and will provide more flexibility and onward connection options across Asia, India and Europe via Air New Zealand's joint network with Singapore Airlines.
Christchurch Gains New International Links
Air New Zealand has announced three new non-stop routes from Christchurch to Singapore, Narita and Perth, improving international access for South Island travellers and reducing the need to connect through Auckland. The new services strengthen links into Asia, Japan and Western Australia.
Schedule Adjustments Continue Across the Network
Air New Zealand has confirmed further domestic and international schedule adjustments due to continued high and volatile jet fuel prices. The latest changes cover travel between the 27th of July and the 24th of October 2026, with less than 2% of booked customers expected to be affected. Impacted PNRs will be updated in the GDS with UN/TK status, and customers may be eligible for alternative options, a credit or a refund where revised flights no longer suit.
Air New Zealand Recognised for Safety
Air New Zealand has been recognised by AirlineRatings.com as a Seven Star PLUS safety-rated airline, the highest safety rating available from the aviation ratings website.
The rating considers factors including IOSA accreditation, operating performance, global safety benchmarks, the airline's ten-year track record and independent onboard audits reviewing safety practices such as turbulence, seatbelts, battery packs and electronic devices.
For corporate travel programmes, safety continues to be a key consideration when selecting preferred airlines and managing traveller risk.
Economy Skynest Opens for Booking
Economy Skynest is now available to book for travel from the 24th of December 2026 on Auckland–New York services operated by Air New Zealand's new 787-9 aircraft. The product offers Economy and Premium Economy passengers a four-hour lie-flat rest session with bedding and amenities, priced from NZD $495 per person, with two sessions available per flight. Tandem Travel can assist with booking where available.
Premium Dining Experience Enhanced
Air New Zealand has appointed Michelin-starred Kiwi chef Josh Emett as its culinary ambassador, designing signature dishes for Premium Economy, Business Premier and Business Premier Luxe on long-haul services. The move supports the airline's focus on New Zealand produce, hospitality, wellness and rest for long-haul travellers.
What This Means for Travellers
Air New Zealand's latest updates point to stronger international connectivity for late 2026 and early 2027, particularly via Singapore and Christchurch. However, with schedule adjustments still affecting some services, travellers should continue to check itineraries carefully, keep contact details up to date, and seek guidance before making changes to impacted bookings.
Tandem Travel continues to monitor airline updates, schedule changes and booking impacts to help clients make informed decisions, minimise disruption and travel with confidence.
